It was a cold morning, but the church was filled with warmth of community as we gathered at Our Lady of Mercy in Madrid for a Sunday filled with spiritual nourishment and community. The day unfolded with a captivating homily delivered by Deacon Orlando, who shared his personal vocation story, a poignant reminder of the call we all receive to serve God. His words resonated deeply, leaving us pondering the profound question: How do we respond to being citizens of heaven?
The communion hymn concluded, and we were then treated to a special performance of a song written and composed by two of our choir members -DD and Jay. This song, a beautiful meditation on the Transfiguration of Jesus, resonated with the theme of the homily, reminding us of the transformative power of God’s presence in our lives. The music, both moving and uplifting, transported us to the mountaintop where Jesus revealed his divine glory.
Following the Mass, the Theologians’ Corner meeting took place, drawing a diverse group of individuals from all ages and backgrounds. It was the last of the three sessions on the Nicene creed. The atmosphere was lively and engaging, with a healthy exchange of ideas and perspectives.
This Sunday at Our Lady of Mercy was truly a moreish experience, filled with moments of reflection, inspiration, and shared faith. It was a reminder of the power of community and the beauty of our shared journey towards the divine.
