At Our Lady of Mercy, the Sacraments are central to who we are as a community. They are not simply milestones or traditions, but moments of grace where we encounter the living Christ and are strengthened in our journey of faith. Each Sacrament invites us into a deeper relationship with God and with one another — drawing us closer as a community rooted in love and faith.
We take this sacred responsibility to heart. Whether a child preparing for First Communion, a couple discerning Marriage, or an adult returning to the Church, we accompany every step with care, understanding, and prayer. Our programmes are designed not only to teach, but to nurture — helping hearts open to the life-changing presence of God’s grace.
At OLM, preparation for the Sacraments is a shared journey. Families, catechists, and our parish community walk together, rejoicing in the beauty of faith celebrated and lived. In each Sacrament, we see God’s love made visible — a reminder that we are never alone, but always embraced by His mercy.
Baptism
Baptism opens the door to new life in Christ, welcoming children and adults into our parish family at Our Lady of Mercy. We offer heartfelt preparation for parents and godparents, nurturing faith from the very first step of this sacred journey.
Eucharist
The Eucharist is the source and summit of our faith — Christ truly present in the breaking of bread. OLM accompanies children and families with joyful First Communion preparation, fostering a lifelong love for this intimate encounter with our Lord.
Confirmation
Confirmation seals us with the gifts of the Holy Spirit, empowering us to live boldly as witnesses of Christ. At OLM, our programmes guide teens and adults through prayer, formation, and community, preparing hearts to embrace this transformative grace.
Reconciliation
Reconciliation brings the healing mercy of God’s forgiveness to our souls. Our Lady of Mercy offers regular confession times in a welcoming atmosphere, inviting all to experience the peace and renewal that comes from returning to the Father’s embrace.
Confessions are heard 30 minutes before mass. As a parishioner, you can also contact the parish office during office hours to check for a priest’s availability during the week.
Anointing of the Sick
Anointing of the Sick offers strength, comfort, and hope to those facing illness or frailty. At OLM, our priests bring this gentle sacrament to homes, hospitals, and during special parish liturgies, surrounding the sick with prayer and care.
Marriage
Marriage is a sacred covenant mirroring Christ’s love for His Church. OLM supports couples with personalised preparation — retreats, mentoring, and prayer — helping them build a lifelong union rooted in faith, joy, and mutual commitment.
OLM offers Marriage Preparation for parishioners who are preparing for this sacred sacrament. Join OLM and speak with Father for more information.
Holy Orders
Holy Orders configures men to Christ as deacons, priests, and bishops, serving God’s people. While not celebrated at the parish level, OLM nurtures vocations through prayer, discernment evenings, and support for seminarians discerning this beautiful call.
OCIA at OLM is our parish’s warm invitation for adults seeking to enter or complete their journey into the Catholic faith. Through this supportive process, we welcome those drawn to Christ — whether unbaptised, from other traditions, or seeking full initiation.
Sacraments of Initiation for AdultsAt OLM
adults preparing through OCIA receive the Sacraments of Initiation — Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist — during the Easter Mass, a day of profound joy and celebration. Our small groups, led by compassionate catechists, offer scripture, prayer, and personal accompaniment, helping each participant grow in faith at their own pace.
